Doing it all again - I am a 32-year old married mother with a three year old daughter and a son who was born in November 2006 (hence the week count on each post title). I live in Kent, UK, and work as a freelance journalist and public relations officer/consultant. I started this blog as a place to vent my worries about being pregnant for the second time while dealing with a toddler and the stresses of an insecure freelance career. It ended up being a frank, open and honest account of my life; the 10 years of child abuse I suffered up to the age of 12 and my teenage pregnancy. I don’t talk about these things freely face-to-face and, early on, I had a few doubts about revealing the “real” me. These fears have subsided, despite the tough comments I’ve faced on here about everything from breastfeeding to abortion. It’s actually strengthened my own view point on such sensitive issues. I write this blog for the silent voices: those too scared and damaged from abuse, ashamed about an abortion, imprisoned by depression, angry about ante/post-natal NHS care and overwhelmed by the responsibility of motherhood. I write under my real name to show I am not ashamed.
